A report about the Northern Open where almost 50% of the current Yugenkai
membership were in attendance can be found HERE.
Pic to the left shows Connor and his dedicated supporters, basically proud parents and
Sister. Connor's support team will now follow Connor all across the country cheering him
on. Well done for making the trip and watching over 6 hours of Kendo.
Pics below shows Yugenkai members plus Stephen Bishop - 6th Dan (Dojo Leader and
Sensei at Edinburgh Kendo Club) & Andre Le Roux - 3rd Dan (Wales Kendo Club) out
of shot are Yugenkai members Carly Hislop and Matt Rushton who also come to watch
the event.
A HUGE big thanks to everyone that made the day a very enjoyable one for all
concerned. We'' all do it again sometime soon.
Ganbatte!
Yugenkai now boast another two Kendoka to get into Hakama & Gi. Kyle Golder (8years old) and Doug Swanson, a little bit older than 8 yrs old.
In the coming weeks, other Yugenkai members Carly & Matt Rushton will be following them too. Picture to follow.
Yugenkai held an internal grading for those members who could not attend any of the gradings during the year and are not yet ready for
Ikkyu. This was also the chance for those who succesfully gained a Kyu grade earlier in the year to possibly get a better grade.
The evening was a sweaty affair with a Kendoka, whether grading or not, making sure they showed their spirit.
Another succesful event and we will probably be making sure that this becomes an event in the Yugenkai calendar.
Grades awarded: Carly Hislop 5th Kyu, Romain Pizzi 5th Kyu, Vince Hogg 4th Kyu, Douglas Swanson 4th Kyu, Velda McCune 2nd Kyu
and Sandy Wito (Edinburgh Kendo Club) 2nd Kyu.
Dojo leader Kristian was involved in a Samurai Festival in Bridge of Don, celebration of
the work Thomas Glover did in Japn in the mid 1800's.
As Kristián also assists with the tuition of Aberdeen Kendo Clubs (Uni & City) he led two
30 minute demonstration and was ably assisted with members of Aberdeen Kendo Club.
Both demonstration were well received and attended with many enquiries about Kendo
and how people could start. We hope Aberdeen Kendo grows in numbers on the back
of this.
A great day was had by all.
Members of Yugenkai had a fabulous day out sailing down the Forth Estuary. The weather
couldn't have been better and the company was also awesome.
Vince, Velda, Min-ho & Kristián plus a few family members and friends gathered in South
Queensferry to board "The Miad of the Forth" and headed off down the Forth to land at
Inchcolm Island.
The sun shone all day and after 3 1/2 Hrs the party headed home, relaxed.
A great day was had by all and we'll be doing it again for sure!
