Footwork - A vital part of Kendo training is spent working on the feet. Exercises will include, moving forward, backwards, and sideways all deploying specific
Kendo footwork. You will also learn how to achieve Fumikomiashi (Stamping).
Grip - How to hold the Shinai & Bokken
Cuts - Various cuts are deployed in Kendo; Head (Men), Wrists (Kote), Body (Do) and Throat (Tsuki)
Etiquitte - Kendo has a lot of etiquitte attached to it, you will learn most of it within these 6 weeks. For example, how to sit, basic commands, standing, etc.
Beginners at Yugenkai - Currently 13yrs +

A typical beginners course will run for 6 weeks and you will be expected to come to all sessions.

You will learn the fundamentals of Kendo whithin the 6 week course. Topics covered;
Once you have completed the beginners course you will consolodate you learning with a view to achieve the move into Hakama.
It will take approx 3months to get into Hakama & Gi and a further few months to make the move into armour (Bogu).

During your transition period of Hakama & Gi to wearing Bogu, we will occassionaly stick you in our club armour so you can get a feel for armour.

Cost of beginners is £70.00 included in the price are the following;

To reduce the ouch factor of a one full payment you can choose to pay in installments.
£45.00 for the first payment which includes all weapons, temp membership and your first session fee. The remainder can be paid in weekly £5.00 installments.
Please bring the Temporary BKA membership form with you at the first session. It would also be adventageous if you arrived 15mins before session commences
so we can process you application/joining.

NB:
Please wear loose fitting clothing such as, track suit bottoms and a T-shirt.
Due to the phsyical nature of Kendo training, you may become sweaty, therefore bring a towel, etc with you should you choose to shower directly afterwards.
