Yugenkai members Dez & Kristian joined with EKC members Steve, Andrea & Tina for Keiko at Aberdeen Kendo Club to celebrate Mr
Yamazaki's successful grading for Godan (5th Dan).
Yugenkai members Dez, Drew & Kristian joined with EKC members Steve & Tina alongside Koji Ozawa from
Edinburgh University and travelled to Cranford, London for a weekend of Kendo.
Primarily for a 3 person competition on the Sat but also for Keiko on Sunday morning.
Team A - Koji, Steve & Kristian made it through to the last 16 places (out of 84) but got put out by eventual 3rd
place St Eitenne.
Team B - Dez, Drew & Tina almost joined Team A but sadly missed out by a point on their previous match.
The match went all the way to Hikiwaki (draw) on all three players and it was left to Dez to fight for honour.
Against Max Davies (GB Team member) Dez did a tremendous job. Sadly after 3mins of hard fighting, Max
won ending Team B chances. A valiant effort from all concerned.
Good food, good chat and new found friend ended the evening.
Sunday morning saw most of us (Tina had to fly back early) turn up for Keiko. 09:30 - 12:00 with emphasis on
fight who you wanted and for as long as you wanted. No need to ask twice then as we got stuck in. Over 80
people turned up for Sunday morning Keiko so space was at a premium. Lots of fun was had regardless.
Can't wait til next year!

Yugenkai members will have their last session of the year on 17th December and return to Keiko on the 7th January 2010.
We would like to send our seasons wishes to everyone that we have met during 2009 and extend our thanks to everyone across the
festive season. May 2010 be better than 2009 and may we all be better than the person we were before. See you all again in 2010.

14th November - Aberdeen Kendo Club
Mr Yamazaki commenced the session with Kihon no Kata to demonstrate the the application of Kihon from the ZNKR against possible differences within the EKF & BKA
due to a change in attitude within Japan for Kihon no Kata.
Once all nine forms of Kihon were completed with Sensei's explanations of the differences, we commenced with a short Kata demonstration as here too there are
subtle differences that are being implimented within Japan and will, if not already done so, be rolled out with the EKF & BKA. Kata form 1 - 5 were explained but we
didn't have time to do all 10 forms. Sensei did explain however that there are no variances within the latter forms.
After a short break we commenced with a few rounds of Kirikaeshi and then onto Jigeiko for 1/2 hour.
Sensei ended the 2hour 'seminar' with Senseigeiko and it was a good experience to fence with Sensei and see first hand how Sensei's Kendo has flourished.
Our meeting ended up in the Brig o' Don pub where food, drink and good chat closed the day for those who didn't have to go back for another 2hour Kendo session.
Many thanks to all Aberdeen members and a huge congratulations for Mr Yamazaki on achieving Godan. See you all again soon.
